Sustainability

Sustainability at Movement Referrals

At Movement Vets, we want to be as sustainable as possible and we will strive to continue to improve our efforts in this regard. The main ways that we aim to be sustainable include:

  • Minimising consumption of electricity and water
  • Reducing waste production and ensuring best practice with disposal
  • Minimising the use of volatile halogenated anaesthetic agents
  • Striving to be a paperless business
  • Reducing transport of personnel and animals where possible

We recognise that as a relatively new business, this will be a continuous journey, but examples of how we are already addressing these areas include:

  • Modern and efficient temperature and climate control systems
  • Working to a green theatre checklist as advised by the Royal College of Surgeons
  • Reviewing consumption of disposables and working with suppliers and wholesalers with a sustainability agenda
  • Use of regional anaesthesia to reduce use of volatile halogenated anaesthetic agents  and introduction of ‘low-flow’ anaesthetic techniques
  • Introduction of a modern cloud-based practice management system with many paperless features
  • Use of telemedicine where appropriate to reduce journeys for clients and personnel
  • Installation of EV chargers for personnel
