Movement Referrals has just released its Clinical Research Report for 2024. During 2024, vets at the practice have published multiple peer-reviewed papers, research abstracts, review articles, journal letters and book chapters.
The report has a foreword by Professor Roger Smith, Professor of Equine Orthopaedics at the Royal Veterinary College, and Director of Credivet, a company that promotes and supports research and development activities within veterinary businesses. Professor Smith commented, “It is an honour for me to have been invited to write a Foreword for this year’s Movement Referrals Clinical Research Report which documents a substantial body of research from this independent practice. I have had a particular interest in the development of Movement Referrals since its inception in 2022. While much of ‘traditional’ research takes place understandably within academic institutions, ‘big data’ for assessing clinical outcomes frequently lies within practices, although it is often difficult to unlock through limitations on time and funding. It is therefore impressive how this independent veterinary practice has embedded a culture of research and development at the heart of its activities, and has developed a substantial portfolio of projects which not only contributes to maximising patient care within the practice, but also helps to drive forward clinical practice.”
On releasing the report, the Directors of Movement Referrals stated, “Clinical research is a strong part of our culture and values at Movement Referrals. As a Specialist veterinary-led company, it is important to our whole team that we are engaged in responsible innovation and continuous quality improvement. It is great top see our younger veterinary colleagues also building their clinical research portfolios.”
They continued, “Our careers have been committed to the veterinary professions, and it is rewarding to be able to help the progression of veterinary medicine and surgery. Of course, like all researchers, we need collaboration and in the report we acknowledge our key collaborators and we would like to thank them all for their contributions. We hope readers will appreciate a summary of our research activities in 2024 and we have lots of plans for 2025 and the coming years.”
